Marta's First Steps

This is Yuriy's movie for Marta's first steps in our home. She does a lot of fun staff which I really want to tape and save for later use :)

She is also still scared of a big camera, so the only chance we get is with iphones and ipads, therefore the quality isn't so great.

But no "quality" can ruin this loveliness...

Just in case you were wondering: Marta is a purebred scottish fold kitten, currently 3 and half months old.

Meet Marta

I haven't been posting for a while, but that is because we were busy preparing to welcome this little ball of fur to our family.

So meet Lady Marta, she was ok to pose for a photo after a short nap on a night stand:

Leopard TV: Growing up

I continue enjoying my "Leopard TV" (see beging of this story if interested)...

I am very sad that Tallin Zoo removed the feed from their website (community there was pretty nice and always shared news around "kittens" in the feed which are hard to get otherwise being available most of the time in Estonian). But for some reason (and to my total luck) the feed for mobile devices (ipads/iphones/androids) is still available even thou there is no way to communicate to other ppl who watches it.

By now cubs are about 7-8 months old, and they are still the same fluffy, funny and kittens alike, just maybe two-three times bigger than they were back in May. Soon they will be almost the same size as their mom; see for yourself.

Squirrel of the Month: September 2012

Squirrel of the month

I am still not sure whatever this furry fella jumped or actually fell from the roof, I just heard some noise and barely saw some movement from the roof to the patio with a corner of my eye.

When I realized that somebody invaded our top patio I went to check it out. The squirrel was picking thru the kitchen door at our kitchen :)

He saw me, turned around, then sneaked thru patio rails to the ground and decided to climb a tree near by, as if nothing had happened.

This is where Yuriy manager to catch him with a camera...

New California Wildlife: Raccoons

So, I guess that is what you get when leave home for long and then don't have much time to pay an attention to it for a while

You get a family of cute, fluffy, stripe-tail and tree-climbing creatures under your deck.

The internet says I shouldn't be so happy...

It also suggests a lot of humane wild animal removal services to pick from.

However these ones didn't do any harm just yet:

Raccoon-mama is more interested into inspecting nearby woods, and raccoon-babies are checking squirrel feeders like they know where nuts should be.

But after all, who said that stealing somebody else's food is the squirrel only job?..

I said "checking", like they are doing it over and over again, which isn't quite true: we only saw them climbing once so far.

It probably was their first time out from the nest. They were so excited that didn't notice neither us making pictures nor the fact that mama escaped to the nest because she saw us first.

See these and couple more of other stripy-tail pictures on Yuriy's blog.
